At the Primary 6 graduation ceremony, the PTA President gave a speech which was long and ‘too adult’ for a 12 years old kids. But maybe kids these days can handle such mature uplifting speech, what do I know.
Anyway, I paid attention and interested in these words spoken by the Mr PTA President. It was in Malay.
Belajar di usia muda seperti mengukir di batu,
Belajar di usia tua seperti menulis di air
It reminds me of my advice I always give to my colleagues at work, or friends and affiliates, to always take note of what they’re learning or listening to. There’s a study based on this, about the correlation of writing and memory – how both will improve the cognitive function of our brain, compare to just read or watch. The article further explain why doomscrolling on your phone will make you less …. Smart.

And back to the speech, yes my son, take all the opportunity to learn everything while you’re young and healthy. Learning process at the later stage of life is a bit hard, but achievable.
To Mr PTA President, thank you for the pep talk.
