”That’s a lot of book. Are you selling?”
The Custom officer called her colleague to show my books I placed on the back seat. I live in an island, where a Custom check is normal at entry gate at the Ferry Terminal to Sabah.
”No. I’m just moving old books to my new house.”
There’s no problem actually. They just find it interesting. Maybe it’s not common to see people carrying book these days. Most people will read ebooks on their mobile device or tablet. More convenient in terms of size and storage. I do have Kindle and iPad for reading too. But I prefer to hold a book in my hand. I feel more connected and focus in that way.
These are the books I bought from when there were plenty of book store in Kota Kinabalu. There were Harris in 1Borneo, Times Bookstore in Warisan Square and Suria Sabah. Some are from Popular roadshow so most books are fiction. Some books are from any airport I’ve been to.
What do I get from reading all these? Many things, and I am glad I chose to read.
