We renewed our passport.
It took us less than an hour to renew our passport at Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia, UTC Labuan. It could be less than 30 minutes. The process was fast – maybe because we were just renewing our passport. Mine will expire in June. To avoid any problem (there’s some rules about passport validity 6 months before expiry date – but I’m not sure so I will not explain here) I decided to just do it now.
I just want to say, the whole thing was easy and fast. Payment in form of debit or credit card, or Touch n Go eWallet. No longer deal in cash. Apparently this was enforced 4 years ago.
I remember we just comparing cash and cashless payment. We agreed by going cashless, everything will be automated in recording and tracking the fund. Though at some level, this technology application may not popular (small trader, age factor, surrounding environment still deal with cash, etc.) compare to dealing in cash. For this reason I always bring some cash in my wallet, but I try to pay most of the time using a debit card.
About debit card, I am using Wise card at the moment. I used to tap my saving bank debit card on every purchase, but after I read an opinion on how such practice will expose you to unethical hacking, I decided to safeguard that account – primarily because that’s were my salary deposited to. So every month I will transfer certain amount to Wise card.

Using Wise card is easy. You can opt for physical card (one time charged about MYR13.00) or use the default mobile app to handle payment or receive of money. Since I will travel to some countries where Wise card is widely acceptable, I can buy the home currency using the Wise app alone. There, I can use the ATM card to withdraw cash.
Honestly, I look at this from conveniency and security point of view. If you share my point of view, have a look at Wise card and get yourself one.
