Family trip to KL

“Kiut, macam bapanya” – Pramugari AirAsia

We decided to go for our first trip as a family. My own family. To be frank, I thought it wouldn’t be fun, thinking of BabyHana alone. She was still 5 months plus – and at this very young age, the mother decided to go for a holiday trip. Like, give me any good reason how we will enjoy travelling with toddler?

Last time we went to Kota Kinabalu, when she was merely 2 months old. Also I was worried; thinking if she can cope with travelling. We didn’t go by car, but ferry. Imagine her first trip crossing the sea to Sabah. Far from convenience (anyone travelling with ferry express to Kota Kinabalu can vouch for this – for instance, the smelly diesel) yet we pray that she will be ok. It turned out that my wife had a headache while BabyHana played Sleeping Beauty.

So this time, Hana had a taste of flying in an aeroplane. I’m not surprised when she didn’t cry when we were taking off. She even put both her legs on the serving tray – speaking of a small dictator in the making. She played a lot – and she smiled a lot. I placed her on my lap and she look through the window and looks like she’s wondering what’s with the blue (sky) and white (clouds) thing.

The only time when she pose properly for the camera.

We touched down at approximately 1 p.m. Couldn’t care less about time – I just want to get to the hotel and have a good sleep. We checked in at Dorsett Regency hotel. I must say the staff were very welcoming, and you can feel that when they’re talking to you, they’re communicating with you as in you’re known each other for a long time. Not like some hotel when they give you that funky ass face while handing you the room card.

We stayed for a few days in Kuala Lumpur. One of the main restriction for this holiday trip was “do not purchase any camera lens/equipments/etc.”, said the bigboss a.k.a my wife, Fiza. I obliged and can only look and drool on the SAL 11-18mm lens on the display rack. Hey, there’s Manfrotto. I got the stare. Look, that’s the A900! I got the stare again. Wah, Sony TC 2.0! *stare*

Ok lah, I want to look for D90. Ok, approved and we looked around for D90. We both know it’s not for me. It’s for our friend, A. Muqtadir Halim. He’s planning on upgrading – and I want to help him – while taking a chance on checking stuffs for my own camera.

“Kak, berapa harga D90?”

“Body plus kit lens plus …”

“pst.. tengok SAL 11-18mm tu”

“ni D90?”

“sekali lah…”

Drool….

Ok, that’s not your father…

Ok, back to our trip. The main point actually was to stay for a night at Genting Highlands. So we took a bus from KL Sentral heading to .. well… Genting lah. I have to say, the check in process is terribly tiring and when I look at the ticket number, our number was 413, while the number on display was 83. Not too bad lah, since there was a group of ladies, they told me they’re from China. They were in the same row of seat with us. After a bit of chit chat, one of the lady gave us a ticket to watch the magic show. She said she already watched the show the last time she came to Genting. That’s really good of you, dear aunty forgot-your-name.

We enjoyed our stay in Genting. Well, FIza enjoyed it very well – she played few games – while I prefer to babysit Hana. Besides, I dont want to miss a chance of taking pictures of us. For this trip, I only use the kit lens. I brought along the tele, but that was for service lah – turned out that the lens was ok – it’s just me being very cautious. If you ask me, yes, the pictures was awesome – simply because I took it (that’s why lah awesome – ask the same to other guy with dSLR, sure got the same answer one). Family photo, not all the time it has to be artistic. As long as I have a camera in my hand, sure can take photo lah.

*I saw one uncle with his big ass dSLR with white lens (ehem), speed light with diffuser some more taking pictures of his family here and there. Me feel very small….

Macam pictorial untuk fesyen pula.

When we head back to KL, little that I know that our last days in KL will be such an ass. I prefer to keep it to myself. And for that kind of experience, our next family trip will be somewhere else.

I’m thinking of bringing my wife and baby Hana to a long trip to Sabah. There are many places that I want to go – and this time, I will make it a photography priority trip!

Anyway, I like this one the most.

Bila Hana sudah besar, tolong minta papa tunjuk gambar ni lagi, ok. Papa mau ketawa puas – puas.
