It is really time for me to get spare battery (or simply a battery grip – will make portrait shot more comfortable) and extra memory card.
To be frank, it’s always hard to perform a task as a photographer. You carry the burden to perform up to your client expectation. You also carry another burden of self-esteem – I don’t know if it is normal, but sometimes I think of the reaction when I hand over the final result to the client.
Are they going to be happy with my work?
If they’re not, would they still accept and ask other people to ‘fix’ my work?
If they’re not, of course they won’t pick me for the next assignment, right?
It normally happen when what I’ve planned seems to be … well…. gone.
Shooting with available lights (note to self : get a proper flash battery)
Normally, for an event with stage performance, I will come during the rehearsal, talking to the technician (that take control of the lighting) or simply observe the environment and other factor that I should consider to make my picture right. As I say right, it should be ‘right’ to the eye of the client. I know, i know. You can say I’m doing my work in a difficult way. I’m wasting my time to perform the job outside the scope of the contract.
Looking from unconvetional angle
But I believe in preparation. And I think that is what make me always feel comfortable with myself when doing my job.
To be frank, the lighting simply wrong just now. Im talking about the event that organized by the client. It just went wrong – and it took me almost 30 minutes to study the lighting again. I rather not ask the technician what happened, but simply adopt to the situation and make myself ‘in’.
Slow-sync flash + slow shutter speed
I did. It’s just a matter of understanding your camera and the functions as well.
Somehow, someone labeled me a Sony-guy. I admit I’m using Sony for the moment; Sony A200 to be exact. Of course lah. If I use Nikon, for sure people call me Nikon guy. But I like Nikon also. Any Santa reading my blog?
But this is what most people don’t know – and I myself can’t accept this when it ‘hit’ me right to my face.
When I press the shutter, I forgot what camera I’m using, what lens I’m using, what the hoo-haa about Sony, etc.
Tradisional meet modern music instrumental
All I think is, change the aperture, shutter speed, ISO to get the right exposure metering and get the right composition. I totally put away the brand. Then again, I could not recall how I did the shot. It’s like you forgot what cloth you wear yesterday, but you know you wear something that has a long sleeve – but you forgot the color or if you folded the sleeve or not.
Slow shutter speed with a bit of panning.
I hope that is a sign I’m normal. I’m not having a short term memory loss, right?
*s**t, the coffee is taking over my head now.
